Woodland police looking for parolee-at-large

The search has closed down Muir Street between North Cottonwood Street and Mariposa Street. Residents have been asked to "shelter in place."

WOODLAND, Calif. — The Woodland Police Department descended onto a north westside neighborhood Wednesday afternoon in search of a parolee-at-large, department officials said.

A bomb squad and officers and deputies with the SWAT Team searched a nearby apartment complex for 25-year-old Joseph Gonzalez. The search closed down Muir Street between North Cottonwood Street and Mariposa Street, according to Woodland Police Department Sgt. Dallas Hyde.

The search led authorities to a van parked on Muir Street, where Gonzalez was suspected of hiding. Police used a flash bang to search the van. The explosion from the flash bang shattered the van window, but they didn't find Gonzalez inside of the vehicle.

Woodland Police are searching for Joseph Gonzales, 25, for violating the terms of his parole, officials confirmed.

"Police are concerned that the person they are searching for may be armed," Sgt. Hyde said. "Out of an abundance of caution... residents were asked to shelter in place."

Authorities didn't find Gonzalez in the area. Police are still searching for him.
