May the Fourth be with you | Star Wars Day events in Sacramento

These are the events you're looking for.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Are you a big fan of Star Wars and looking for something to do this Saturday? Well, these are the events you're looking for. Of course, we're talking about Star Wars Day, also known as "May the Fourth Be With You."

The celebrations come just a few days after California Legislature voted to declare May 4 officially Star Wars Day in recognition of the new Disneyland theme park slated to open later this month.

Reservations for the new theme park sold out in just two hours.

Star Wars creator George Lucas also happens to be from Modesto. His childhood in Modesto inspired Lucas' film American Graffiti, which premiered in 1973, four years before Star Wars.

The new official state holiday also comes a few days after news of the original Chewbacca actor, Peter Mayhew, passed away at the age of 74

If you are looking to celebrate but don't have a way to visit a galaxy far far away, here are a few local events you can attend without boarding the Millennium Falcon (although, if you have a chance to do that we vote YOU TAKE IT).

Old Sacramento Waterfront, 1002 2nd Street

Go on your own hero's journey with a scavenger hunt in Old Sacramento. Stage Nine Entertainment and Evangeline's Costume Mansion have teamed up for the free Star Wars event. Locations around Old Sac will have clues that will lead the players to their next location. Along the way, players will get to enjoy Wookie Cookie samplings, blue milk tastings and an interactive Star Wars video game. Players who complete the scavenger hunt will be given a special password which will grant them access to a Secret Rebel Base 9 room filled with fan art, memorabilia and more.

The free event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
