Check back for Davis Measure I results
Voters in Davis will have more than just the governor's race to decide on come June 5.
Measure I would add a new $99 annual tax that would fund street and bike path maintenance in the city. It would be paid alongside property taxes.
The city expects to receive around $3 million annually over the next decade from the tax.
Opponents argue that the state's new gas tax law is already a large source of funds for road maintenance, while supporters say the city is already spending $3 million annually on roads and needs to close the gap.
If approved, the new tax would take effect July 1.
