Tow truck procession honors Roselyn and Shalvinesh Sharma

"They were just great people. We lost two great tow-truck operators in this incident."

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The towing community came together Saturday for a memorial drive in memory of Shalvinesh and Roselyn Sharma.

The couple, whose tow truck fell into the Sacramento River last month, was laid to rest this week after their vehicle and bodies were finally recovered.

"We put this memorial run together for our brother and sister, the Sharma family," said Luis Martinez from Quality Towing. "It's just to honor their names and memory of the accident that happened."

Tow truck operators from all over the region paid their respects to the Sharmas in a 10-mile procession that began in West Sacramento and ended in South Sacramento.

"It really hit home. It was the Sharma family, unfortunately. But it could have been one of us also," Martinez added.

The procession started near the place where the Sharma's truck fell into the river and ended at Copart Sacramento, where they would have had their last stop the night they died.

"They were just great people. We lost two great tow-truck operators in this incident," Martinez said. "If you see one of us out there, pull over or slow down."

Gavino Munguia works for Tito's Towing. He attended the memorial drive with his three children. He said he felt devastated when he learned what happened to the Sharmas.

"I put myself in their place, and I actually felt like I wanted to leave the business," Munguia said.

Munguia told ABC10 that the Sharma's tragic situation affected him because he knows it could have easily been him or any of his colleagues who didn't make it home to their kids that night.

"These are the reasons we want to make it home," Munguia said as held on to his kids. "Every time you see a tow truck driver on the road, please move over or slow down. We just want to make it home to these kids. We all have families."
