NFL Training Camps are now underway as the 2018-2019 season approaches. The regular season kicks off on September 6 when the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons for the season opener. Training camp is the time for young players to prove they can be contributors to a competitive team and, for veterans, it's a time to set the tone for the season.
With its rich football history, our region has pumped out tremendous NFL talent for decades. In January, former Stockton high school football stars Brandin Cooks and Jordan Richards played on the biggest stage in Super Bowl 52. In May, Roseville's Kolten Miller and Elk Grove's Taron Johnson were selected in the NFL Draft. Miller and Johnson represent the new generation of talented, professional athletes to come out of our area.
