Fifteen-time NBA All-Star Shaquille O'Neal is furthering his involvement with the Sacramento Kings organization by becoming the general manager of Kings Guard Gaming — the new esports team that will compete in the NBA 2K League.

O'Neal, 46, is a four-time NBA champion, presently serving as an NBA television analyst for the NBA and Turner Sports. He is also part of the Kings minority ownership group.

In his role as GM for Kings Guard, Shaq will assist in assembling the new team's roster and evaluating gamers in Wednesday's draft.

"I'm looking forward to my role with Kings Guard," O'Neal said in a statement. "Just like I dominated on hardwood, music industry, showbiz, nicknames and broadcasting, I plan to help build the most dominant 2K franchise in history."

The NBA 2K League, consisting of 17 teams, will hold its inaugural draft in New York this Wednesday where O'Neal and Kings Guard hold the fourth overall pick of the first round.

Each team will select six players who will move to Sacramento to train until May when competitive play will begin. The League's Finals will take place in August.
