The San Francisco 49ers have contacted the NFL about the conditions of the playing surface at MetLife Stadium after several players went down with injuries in a victory over the New York Jets.
The 49ers players complained before the game that the turf was “sticky.”
Those complaints only grew louder after several players got hurt, including star defensive end Nick Bosa and his counterpart Solomon Thomas.
On Monday, the 49ers confirmed Bosa tore his ACL in his knee and will miss the rest of the season. Thomas' injury, also to his knee, needs further testing to determine its severity.
The NFL says the field was certified to be in compliance before the first game of the season and checked again three days before the Niners beat the Jets 31-13.
The 49ers signed Ziggy Ansah in response to the injuries.
