After his stellar career at UC Davis, where he helped to put a national spotlight on the Aggies program, heralded wide receiver Keelan Doss is ready for the next step in his football journey – the NFL Draft.

Scouts from almost 20 NFL franchises braved the rainy elements at Aggies Stadium last Friday to watch Doss and several other Davis seniors workout at UCD Pro Day.

Doss was the one that everyone’s eyes were locked on while he ran routes, caught passes, showed off his catch and run abilities, and even ran the 40-yard dash.

With the NFL Draft coming up April 25-27, the Alameda native is hoping to hear his name called by an NFL team. Most projections have him being selected between the third and fifth rounds.

Doss would be the first player drafted since UC Davis player drafted since quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan, a Carmichael native who also played at Jesuit high school, was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of 2002. He would also become the first player drafted since Davis became a Division-I football program.

With the draft still weeks away, Doss will have several more workouts on the horizon. This week, he will visit with both the 49ers and the Raiders, his favorite team growing up. He even caught the eye of Raiders coach Jon Gruden at the Senior Bowl back in January.
