Racing legend and 16-time funny car champion John Force was at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco on Wednesday to talk about next weekend's NHRA Sonoma Nationals taking place at Sonoma Raceway.
To talk with Force, ABC10 invited another racing legend - but on the broadcast side - Gary Gerould who is also the radio voice for the Sacramento Kings.
Gerould has been a motor sports reporter since the early 80's for ABC and ESPN. During that time he's formed a lof of friendships with notable personalities within auto sports, including Force.
Gerould tagged along to meet with Force while he was in San Francisco to talk with the racing icon about his competitive drive to race, even at the age of 67.
Force holds the Sonoma Raceway record for most professional wins and was inducted into the raceway's Wall of Fame in 2006.
“My family and I love coming out to Sonoma,” said Force. “The track is incredible, the weather is always perfect at the end of July and the fans sure love their drag racing. I’m looking to sweep the Western Swing and get that championship.”
