Urijah Faber coming out of retirement; UFC returning to Sacramento this summer

"The California Kid" Urijah Faber is coming out of retirement to fight in his hometown.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Well that didn't last very long. 

Urijah "The California Kid" Faber is coming out of retirement to fight in his hometown as UFC returns to the Golden 1 Center this summer. 

UFC Fight Night will be headlined by Faber and Ricky Simon in a bantamweight fight on Saturday, July 13. 

Faber last fought in Sacramento in December 2017, his retirement fight.

The California Kid won't be the only hometown representation fighting in July. Faber's Team Alpha Male will be represented by Josh Emmett (14-2, fighting out of Sacramento), Andre Fili (19-6, fighting out of Sacramento), No. 11 ranked women’s strawweight contender Cynthia Calvillo (8-1, fighting out of Sacramento), and prospect Benito Lopez (9-1, fighting out of Oroville).

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31. Card is subject to change.
