Deadly accident on I-80 shut down westbound lanes for several hours near Dixon | Update

All lanes on westbound I-80 at Pedrick Road near Dixon were closed for several hours after the crash, but they reopened by 10:15 a.m.

DIXON, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol — Solano said there was a deadly accident Tuesday morning on westbound I-80 east of Pedrick Road near Dixon.

According to a report from CHP, around 6:50 a.m. a Ford F-650 traveling westbound in the third lane collided with the back of another truck, causing the vehicle to crash into the center median guardrail. The Ford F-650 continued westbound and side-swiped a Volvo tractor-trailer vehicle.

The driver of the Ford F-650 died at the scene. A passenger in the Ford F-650 was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center. 

CHP said that it is unknown if distracted driving, drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The accident is under investigation. All lanes were closed for several hours after the crash, but they reopened by 10:15 a.m.
