REDLANDS, Calif. — UPDATE 8:42 P.M.
According to Caltrans, I-5 is now fully closed.
Update 8:37 p.m.
Caltrans has called an engineer to begin repairing the damage done.
California transportation authorities say two of four eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway in Redlands are closed after a collapsed drain created a massive hole on the highway.
Caltrans District 8 says in a tweet Thursday the freeway is closed at Sixth Street in Redlands and crews are working to repair the roadway. Caltrans says that all lanes could be closed if it continues eroding.
A second storm in Southern California this week also led to the temporary closure of the Grapevine section of Interstate 5 in Tejon Pass north of Los Angeles.
It also blanketed with snow areas in Santa Barbara County charred by a fire that was almost completely doused Wednesday by another storm.
