Traffic controls set up for record number of Sac State students attending graduation ceremony

Sacramento State University has its largest-ever number of graduates eligible for graduation this year with a total of 9,320 students.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State will have its largest-ever number of graduates eligible for their graduation ceremony this weekend. To accommodate those students, there’ll be traffic control in the area.

The 9,320 eligible students will be heading to Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center for their respective ceremonies.

Here’s what to know and what to expect on the day of the event:

Traffic Control around the Golden 1 Center

The ceremonies will be at the Golden 1 Center at 500 David J Stern Walk. 

An hour before each of the ceremonies, Sacramento police officers will direct and control traffic at the following intersections:

  • 7th and J Streets
  • 7th and K
  • 7th and L
  • 6th and Capitol Mall
  • 6th and L
  • 5th and L
  • 5th and J

Drivers can expect graduates to arrive about 90 minutes prior to the ceremony.

May 17 ceremony times:

  • 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

May 18 ceremony times:

  • 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

May 19 ceremony times:

  • 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Parking for the Sac State Graduation

There are two options for parking at the Golden 1 Center. Guests for the ceremony can visit the Golden 1 Center’s direction and parking web page or book and pre-pay for parking spots near the center through the SacPark website.
