Traffic on NB Highway 99 in Sacramento moving again following fiery semi crash | Update

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. and has traffic backed up from 12th Avenue all the way to Florin Road.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Traffic is back to moving normally on northbound Highway 99 in Sacramento after an hours-long backup following a fiery semi crash.

The crash on the highway at 12th Avenue was first reported just after 5 a.m. I had traffic on that side of the highway backed up for miles all the way to Florin Road.

Around 8:20 a.m., Caltrans reported the roadway clear. It is still unclear if any other vehicles were involved. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined and there is no word on possible injuries.

Traffic on the northbound side of Highway 99 in Sacramento is backed up for miles after a fiery crash involving a semi near 12th Avenue, Tuesday morning.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. and has traffic backed up from 12th Avenue all the way to Florin Road. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. There is no estimated time for the highway to be fully reopened.
