Cold storm set to snarl Monday evening commute

A fast-moving spring storm will bring a burst of evening rain and solid Sierra snow, which might slow your Monday commute.

After a nice sunny weekend, most people are not thinking of the next storm. Unfortunately, (or fortunately if you love rain) it will move in very fast Monday afternoon.

Evening commuters will need to plan for a wet, and potentially slow and messy drive home. The peak rain intensity for most Valley locations will be between 2-8 p.m. Wind will be occasionally gusty, and the Sierra will rapidly see road conditions change.

MORE FROM ROB CARLMARK:

The mountain passes could see up to a foot of snow which could create poor driving conditions, low visibility, low traction and chain controls. Check ahead for any mountain travel. The snow should start to slow down by Tuesday morning.

The Valley rain could last well into the evening but will begin to break up in the middle of the night leaving a few puddles for the Tuesday morning commute.

This should be the last storm of the week, with sunny skies and warming temps becoming the big weather story. We could see mid 80s for high temperatures for Thursday and Friday.
