Magnitude 4.4 earthquake shakes central Sierra Nevada towns

Towns near the California-Nevada border experienced a 4.4 magnitude earthquake

TOMS PLACE, Calif. — A magnitude 4.4  earthquake hit Northern California Sunday around noon.

The quake happened around 12:20 p.m. in the Sierra Nevada near Toms Place, an unincorporated community in Mono County, and roughly 50 miles from Yosemite National Park, according to U.S. Geological Survey [USGS].

On the USGS site, people reported feeling the earthquake from parts of  Calaveras County to parts of Tulare County.

There are no immediate reports of damage.
