JACKSON, California — The Electra Fire burning in Amador and Calaveras counties has continued to grow over the last several days burning several thousand acres. The smoke plume was very dramatic at the beginning of the fire and has now been moving in several directions during the day due to wind shifts.

The fire has not seen critical fire conditions known as a Red Flag Warning yet but has still been burning in higher humidity onshore cooling breezy conditions.

During the day the wind is coming from the south near the fire and that spreads out smoke and haze and new fire growth to the north and east. This is a general forecast that will change hour by hour but at least some smoke will make its way to South Lake Tahoe and as far north as Truckee depending on the shift.

During the evening hours, the wind will die down and reverse course. The wind near the fire will move more east to west and north to South bringing smoke to areas like Murphys and Sonora.

The fire may grow in the coming days as the air dries out and the temperatures climb into the 100-degree range for the valley and near 90 for the area near the fire.
