Valley thunderstorms return to the forecast Thursday and Friday as the biggest storm of the year hits Northern California.
Heavier rain develops after midnight leading to slick roads for the morning commute. Possible ponding on the roads early.
The Sierra Avalanche Center in Truckee has issued a back county avalanche watch for the Greater Lake Tahoe area for the upcoming snowstorm.
The watch is in effect from 7 a.m. Thursday, March 1, to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3. The areas impacted the most include: Yuba Pass on the north and Ebbetts Pass on the south.
A Blizzard Warning has also been issued from 8 a.m. Thursday, March 1, to 4 a.m. Friday, March 2, for the Greater Lake Tahoe area.
Wind Advisory in effect from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1. Southerly winds increase Thursday morning and linger into Thursday evening. Southerly winds from 25-35 mph with gusts from 40-50 mph. Difficult driving conditions possible, especially for high profile vehicles. Use caution.
