Memorial Day Weekend Forecast: It's going to be nice!

After hot weather this week, a welcome relief as comfortable conditions arrive just in time for the holiday weekend

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer activities and often the weather sunny, dry and hot.

We had those conditions earlier this week with highs well over 100 degrees for Sacramento and Stockton and a record high of 100 in Modesto on Wednesday.

Those days are over and a cooler pattern has taken over.

Highs on Friday with some cloud cover will move into the mid-80s for most valley locations and 60s for the Sierra.

Evening breezy conditions will be consistent as well with gusty wind up to about 20mph each night.

Early morning lows for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be in the 50s and areas open to the wind will only top out in the upper 70s.

Saturday afternoon will see a few isolated thunderstorms in the Sierra with lightning, and brief light rain.  Those hiking, camping and boating should factor in a chance of storms Saturday until shortly after sunset when they will diminish.

Memorial Day will see fine weather with sunny skies and highs near 82.
