SACRAMENTO, Calif. — There's a chance of thunderstorms for the foothills and The Sierra on Thursday. Any thunderstorms that develop can produce small-sized hail and gusty winds.
Winds on the backside of a departing low-pressure system are causing just enough instability to trigger isolated thunderstorms for the higher elevations. This will create a marginal risk for pop-up showers along with gusty winds during the day.
We're also watching the opportunity for another weather system to approach the area on Sunday. This system will also introduce another possibility for showers in the higher elevations.
