SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Monday and Tuesday will bring a series of weather events that will change by the hour.
A Fire Weather Warning goes into effect for the high Sierra Monday at 11 a.m. and remains in effect until Tuesday 5:00 a.m.
Wind gusts may be as high as 40 mph with sustained winds around 15-25 mph. Humidity remains low for this terrain and is expected to be between 10-20%. The dry vegetation is readily available and potential to be fuel for any fires that may break out.
Strong winds will also affect the valley and coastal range Monday with winds 15-20 mph. There may be a concern for fire conditions as well through the Delta and coastal range with break-out grassfires. Winds are expected to be gusty again Tuesday for the valley, meanwhile the Sierra will see much lighter winds.
Late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, rain chances roll into the forecast. As a cold front sweeps through, humidity will increase for the Sierra, and rain accumulations could be as high as .10"-.25" of rain for areas around Grass Valley. Similar elevations in the foothills north of US-50 could see as much as .25” of rain as well. Valley spots may only see trace amounts of rain to maybe as much as .10”.
Temperatures will cool off in the low 80s and mid-70s for the workweek, with warmer temperatures next weekend.
