A 23-year-old man was shot and killed near his home overnight as he was walking to the store.
A passerby noticed the victim lying in the roadway on St. Andre Lane, just nother of Gerber Road in South Sacramento, at 1 a.m. on Wednesday and called authorities, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
The department said he suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Homicide investigators were called to the scene, there is no motive or suspect description at this time.
The victims' identity will be available after his family has been notified.
