A woman has been arrested after threatening to burn down her neighbor’s home in Sonora, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies initially responded to a Sonora home on Phoenix Lake Road on Saturday afternoon due to a reported vandalism.

The caller told police she saw heard a loud noise at the front of her residence and saw a neighbor, 43-year-old Alayna Moro, walking away from the home with a hammer in her hand, officials said.

Shortly after, Moro returned to the home holding a gas can and lighter. After the homeowner saw her again, Moro left the property.

After deputies arrived, Moro told them she was planning on burning down the neighbor’s home. Moro also admitted to causing damage to her neighbor’s garage window, RV and rental car on the property, authorities said.

Moro, who is on probation for burglary and vandalism, was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for charges of attempted arson, vandalism and for violating her probation.
