Crews reduce water levels in Stanislaus River to help in search for Matilda Ortiz
At midnight on Wednesday, officials began the process of reducing the flow of water from New Melones Dam, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office. The effort was made to help in the search for 5-year-old Matilda Ortiz, who was swept away in the river over the weekend. Sadly, Wednesday afternoon, volunteers found the little girl's body.
