SACRAMENTO, Calif — Warm temperatures and sunny conditions all week long. Highs will hit peak warmth by Friday with what is trending to be a return to showery, cool weather this weekend.
North winds will once again be breezy on Tuesday with gusts to 25mph. Generally clear skies prevail with highs staying slightly above average in the upper 70s.
A low pressure system drops into the Great Basin on Wednesday, which will create a tighter pressure gradient with the high pressure to our southwest. This means stronger north winds across the region, but fire danger remains low thanks to the cool and wet weather we've had recently. A Wind Advisory is in effect starting late Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon. Gusts in the Sacramento Valley and Delta will be 35-45mph.
These winds are dry and warm which will help bump temperatures into the 80s by Thursday and Friday.
The warm weather comes to a sharp end this weekend as a cold weather system approaches. Weather forecast models are coming into more agreement we'll have showers and highs cooling into the low 70s.
The Sierra will also see a mix of rain and snow. Snow level Saturday will be near 8000 feet but then drop to 6500 feet during the evening into early Sunday. Travel in the Sierra may be delayed with slippery and changing conditions developing through the beginning of the weekend.
We'll see how this may affect viewing the Eta Aquariids meteor shower which peaks May 4-5.
TUESDAY MORNING: Clear skies with lows near 50°. Sierra with lows near 30°. Winds Calming.
TUESDAY: Sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the upper 50s.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny and windy with highs near 80°. Wind gusts 35-45mph. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-50s.
THURSDAY: Sunny with highs in the low 80s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 60s.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid-80s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 60s.
SATURDAY: Chance of showers with highs dropping to the low 70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 50s with rain and snow.
SUNDAY: Chance of a lingering shower with highs in the low 70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the upper 40s. Snow level in the morning down to near 6500 feet.
MONDAY: Sunny with highs in the low 70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-50s.
