Sacramento Weather Forecast

Morning rain, gusts through the afternoon, and Sierra snow all day long. An active weather day across Northern California.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Saturday is a Weather Impact Alert Day with extreme winds and heavy rain making its way through the valley. Strong gusts have picked up as of Friday evening with gusts between 30-45 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 12:00pm Saturday. Although the Wind Advisory is set to expire, wind gusts will continue into the afternoon. Unsecured items and tree limbs may be blown down. A few power outages may also be a result of these winds.

Strong winds continue through the morning. The Wind Advisory expires at noon but gusty conditions will remain into the late afternoon.

In addition to the winds, heavy rain is moving through the valley this morning. The heaviest rain will fall before 9a, with rain coverage and intensity tapering after that time. By this afternoon, the valley is expected to be dry and for some will even be mostly sunny.

In the meantime, a Flood Advisory has been issued for the Sacramento Valley — including the Sacramento metro area — until noon due to widespread urban flooding such as ponding on roadways and parking lots, as well as flooding of low-lying areas.

A Flood Advisory continues until noon Saturday for the Sacramento Valley. Widespread urban flooding is present. Never drive across flooded roads.

Heavy snow will continue through the afternoon in the Sierra. Even as the valley begins to dry out, snow will still be falling in the high country. Another 1 to 2 feet of snow is expected before this storm winds down. If you don't need to travel to or across the Sierra on Saturday, don't. Travel is very difficult to impossible as roads are snow covered and icy.

A Winter Storm Warning continues until 10pm Saturday.
