According to Capt. Keith Wade with Sacramento Fire Department, at least four units were heavily impacted by the fire.

A large amount of firefighters arrived to apartment complex along with five engines and three trucks to battle the fire.

Their response led to a relatively quick knock down of the fire. Crews were able to douse the flames in about 20 minutes, Capt. Wade said.

Sacramento Fire Department credits the working smoke detectors, alarm system, and responsible neighbors for helping get the tenants out of the building safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
