PG&E coming to your area to answer questions about power shutoffs

Have questions about PG&E's power shutoff plan and how it might affect you? PG&E is coming to your area and you can ask them directly.

CHICO, Calif. — This month, PG&E launched a tour of its service area, offering informational open houses to answer people’s questions about the Public Safety Power Shutoff program.

That’s the plan where PG&E shuts power off to a large area to prevent sparking wildfires. PG&E’s equipment has been blamed for the start of the Camp Fire in Butte County, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California state history.

The informational tour stretches through August. All of the meetings listed below run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. People are welcome to drop-in throughout that time.

June 12: Chico (Manzanita Place at the Chico Elks Lodge, 1705 Manzanita Avenue). Counties covered: Butte, Glenn

June 13: Chester (Veterans Memorial Hall, 225 Gay Street). Counties covered: Lassen, Plumas, Sierra

June 17: Mariposa (Mariposa County Fairgrounds, Redbud Room, 5007 Fairgrounds Road). Counties covered: Madera, Mariposa, Merced

June 20: San Luis Obispo (Embassy Suites SLO, SLO Center, 333 Madonna Road). Counties covered: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara

June 26: Napa (Embassy Suites Napa Valley, Chardonnay Ballroom, 1075 California Boulevard). Counties covered: Napa, Solano, Yolo

June 27: Santa Rosa (Finley Community Center, Person Auditorium, 2060 West College Avenue). County covered: Sonoma

July 8: Oakland (Oakland Marriott City Center, Junior Ballroom, 1001 Broadway). County covered: Alameda

July 11: Walnut Creek (Gardens at Heather Farms, Camellia Room, 1540 Marchbanks Drive). County covered: Contra Costa

July 15: Fortuna (River Lodge Conference Center, Steelhead Room, 1800 Riverwalk Drive). Counties covered: Humboldt, Trinity, Siskiyou
