Sierra snow, possible Valley thunderstorms on the way

Another cold storm is bringing low snow and a chance of thunderstorms.

No doubt about it, it's still winter.

A cold storm is dropping through the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys bringing a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of Thursday in the Sierra. Snow may fall as low as 1000 feet. Places like Foresthill, Placerville and Grass Valley may see one to two inches of accumulation.

Higher Sierra elevations will pick up about six to eight inches of snow.

More cold and showery weather is expected next week.
