California's population is already the largest in the United States and it has increased.

With a recent release of population numbers on Monday, the state's population has grown to 39.4 million by adding an additional 295,000 people between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.

But where do other states' population across the country fall in line against California which continues to assume the No. 1 spot.

Here's a list of the top 10 most populated states in 2016 according to the U.S. Census Bureau:

California had about 11 million more people than Texas, who's at the No. 2 spot . The next two on the list were Florida and New York who had over 19.5 million people in their respective states and no other states came close to those four.

New U.S. Census figures also show that Utah is the fastest-growing state in the country, leading a cluster of Western states with populations on the upswing, according to the Associated Press. Those figures were released on Tuesday and showed the state with the country's highest birth rate grew two percent from July 2015 to July 2016, followed closely by Nevada, Idaho and Florida.

State's like Washington, Oregon and Colorado also took top percentage-growth spots.
