CHP looking for witnesses after man killed, woman injured in tunnel near Sacramento park

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol is looking for witnesses after a man was killed Sunday in a tunnel below Interstate 5 near the south end of Front Street.

According to CHP, it happened around 11 a.m. Sunday, April 7 in a tunnel below the interstate, near the south end of Front Street and next to Miller Regional Park.

CHP says a 41-year-old man was fatally shot and his wife was also severely injured.

Detectives found several people living nearby but need additional information. They’re also looking to speak with 63-year-old John Gavino, who lives in the area but hasn’t been interviewed yet.
