Gridley Unified teacher arrested for sex with a minor, police say

Police say the victim was a former student and they're now looking into the potential of other victims.

GRIDLEY, Calif. — A Butte County teacher was arrested Monday morning amid allegations she had a sexual relationship with a former student.

According to the Gridley Police Department, a concerned parent contacted them Oct. 10 about rumors of explicit photographs of a teacher being passed around by students. An investigation began which found more than just photographs were being circulated among students and the community.

Gridley police said they found Gridley Unified School District teacher Michelle Solis was in a sexual relationship with a former student, and they found the juvenile victim had other explicit photos of her.

The district attorney’s office reviewed the case and a warrant was issued for Solis’ arrest. She was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Monday at her home and booked on suspicion of felony unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16.

Police said Solis has been with the district for 20 years and they’re investigating if there are more victims.
