1 killed, 1 in custody after Marysville shooting

The shooting suspect led deputies on a chase before crashing their car and being taken into custody.

MARYSVILLE, Calif. — One person is dead after being shot in Marysville Thursday afternoon.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Office said the shooting was reported near the area of Remington Way and Silvergate Court around 3:15 p.m.

Deputies said the reporting party heard a loud bang and a neighbor's voice yelling for help. A person, only described as male, was shot and taken to a hospital where he ultimately died. 

The suspect in the shooting took off in a red car but was found soon afterward. 

The suspect led deputies on a chase for about 10 minutes, reaching speeds up to 95 miles per hour, before crashing their car and being taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Sunny Bavra. Bavra was booked into the county jail on suspicion of homicide, felony evading and multiple weapon offenses. It's not clear if Bavra knew the victim.
