1 in custody after standoff with police in Citrus Heights

Police said the suspect refused to come out of the car after police did a traffic stop.

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — One person is in custody after a standoff involving a suspected stolen car in Citrus Heights.

The Citrus Heights Police Department said officers were called to the area near Ulta Beauty parking lot at Marketplace at Birdcage, not from from Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane.

Police said the suspect refused to come out of the car after police did a traffic stop. However, after 30 to 40 minutes of negotiation, police were able to take him into custody.

It's not clear when the suspect stole the car or whether it is tied to any other crimes.
