The victim, a 51-year-old man, was stabbed in the arm and taken to a hospital for treatment.

VACAVILLE, Calif. — An argument led to an employee being stabbed by a suspected tip jar thief in Vacaville Monday night, according to police.

The Vacaville Police Department says the stabbing was reported at a business along the 500 block of Main Street just before 6 p.m. The caller said a woman stabbed an employee and took off, but police eventually caught up with the suspect due to a witness who shared where she was.

According to police, the suspect had an argument with the victim inside the business and tried to leave with a tip jar. The victim, a 51-year-old man, was stabbed in the arm and taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Makeda Cairo. She was taken to the county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. Police partnered with Child Welfare Services to make sure the three children were safe.
