Check out this Christmas light display you missed in Sacramento's Elmhurst neighborhood

Rockmont and the Fab 40s are popular, but a display in the Elmhurst neighborhood is worth your time.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Holidays and lights are synonymous with one another, and there are many iconic light displays in the area.

Sure, Rockmont and the Fab 40s are popular, but a display in the Elmhurst neighborhood is worth your time.

Candy Cane Lane off S Street in the Elmhurst neighborhood is a treat for the eyes. Kim and Eric Camatti are the lead luminaries for the neighborhood with both the job and tradition passed down.

“Mark and Patrick, [who] used to live down at the end on 53rd and S street, started this many years ago. We used to bring the boys when they were little and then a house became available and we were like, 'That’s the Christmas street, we have to move there.' We became friends with Mark and Patrick and they brought us up, and now we are the ring leaders after they moved away,” said Kim.

Kim hand paints the Disney cutouts, changing the theme each year. Eric distributes the flyers to let the neighborhood know when to flip the switch.

“Thanksgiving night at 6 p.m. when it gets dark, we light fireworks at the corner and everyone comes out for the block lighting party,” said Eric.

The spirit has spilled into the neighboring streets. The MacDonald family was brought into the fold this year by Eric who bestowed upon them the iconic candy cane arches.

But father-daughter decorating team Daniel and Amberose are never without some type of decoration.

“We just put up some skeletons and we just add whatever we want for the holidays or leave it how it is,” said Amberose.

“We just have this philosophy all the holidays flow together,” said Daniel.

You can stop by the Elmhurst neighborhood until New Year's Day to see the lights.
