1 dead, 1 injured after crash on Walerga Road near Roseville

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — One person is dead and another severely injured after a two-car crash near Roseville.

The California Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday along Walerga Road and Doyle Ranch Drive.

CHP says a man was driving a Mazda north on Walerga and was turning onto Doyle when a man driving a Mercedes hit him.

The driver of the Mazda had major injuries and his passenger died. The driver of the Mercedes was taken to the hospital for a complaint of pain.

The identity of the person who died hasn't been released. The intersection was closed for several hours while officers investigated.
