Burglar used roof to break in to Golden Credit Union in Lincoln

Police spent hours search the area, but they weren't able to find the suspect.

LINCOLN, Calif. — Police are still trying to track down the whereabouts of a burglar who broke into the Golden 1 Credit Union in Lincoln.

According to Lincoln Police Department, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at the bank just after 9 a.m.

Officers set up a perimeter, went inside the bank and found evidence of a break in. They couldn't find the suspect, but footage from the bank confirmed that the suspect was inside the bank at some point. The suspect had light blue jeans, a black sweatshirt, a black beanie and a ski mask.

With help from Rocklin Police Department and the Placer County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement secured the shopping center, which led to closures for both Safeway and CVS as they searched businesses.

The Placer County Special Enforcement Team was called in to search the bank, including the roof and crawl area, but authorities still couldn't find the suspect. However, police said it appears the suspect got into the bank from the roof.

The burglary is still under investigation and anyone with information can call Detective Sergeant Scott Goin at (916) 645-4047.
