SACRAMENTO — Sacramento police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection to an early Monday morning homicide.

Detectives arrested Mario Junior Garcia on Tuesday for the shooting death of another man at 12:44 a.m. Monday on Anton Way in south Sacramento. The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Garcia was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail. A booking photo will not be released at this time due to the large party that was taking place at a home in the area of the homicide, the department said. Investigators believe there are still witnesses to the event who have not been contacted and might know information important to the investigation.

FAIRFIELD — 38-year-old Shahaub Tafreshinejad was arrested after attempting to rob a bank on Dickson Hill Road at 12:40 p.m. Tafreshinejad up his backpack and showed the employee a gun, according to police, the employee did not have access to the vault so the suspect left the business.

Tafreshinejad was detained by two police officers in the parking lot of a nearby business when they matched his description to the suspect's. A replica firearm was located in the suspect’s backpack. He was booked into Solano County Jail for attempted robbery and other related charges.

SACRAMENTO — Sacramento PD have identified the victim of a Monday morning homicide.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, Talanoa Feinga, 27, of Sacramento, was shot and killed Monday around 12:15 a.m. in South Sacramento. Police got a call of a party along the 8300 Block of Anton Way. A short time later, police received another call of a fight and shooting near the same location. Upon arrival, police located Feinga suffering from a gunshot wound, several doors down from the party. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

SACRAMENTO — Sacramento PD have found a body on Hwy. 160, near Del Paso and Northgate Boulevards.

Police are temporarily closing the roads. The SPD is investigating this as a suspicious death. Officers believe traffic will be impacted for several hours.

RIO LINDA — Sacramento Fire responded to a fire at an area elementary school Tuesday morning.

According to the Metro fire Twitter account, a fire knocked down the wall of a classroom at Vineland Elementary School, 6450 20th St. They are currently checking for extension now.

Fire officials believe the fire was caused by arson. Anyone with information is asked to call the arson tipline at 916-859-3775 or email to arsontip@metrofire.ca.gov.

STOCKTON — A teenager was able to escape a kidnapping attempt in Stockton.

According to the Stockton Police Department, a 16-year-old female was running in the area of Whistler Way and River Bluff Lane when a yellow van with “solar” written on the side in green approached her. The van was occupied by three Hispanic male adults. The van pulled up next to her and the sliding side door opened and one of the males attempted to grab her. She pulled away and ran.

MODESTO — A Kaiser Hazmat crew worked a 3 ounce spill at its Kaiser Permanente-Modesto Medical Center, according to the Modesto Fire Department. No injuries or evacuations are reported. Identification of the substance was not available.

MONTEREY — A wildfire near Big Sur has reached 67,092 acres and is 50 percent contained. Evacuation orders on the Soberanes Fire has been lifted for the area of Coast Road.
