The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the 3300 block of Hartselle Way around 1:15 a.m. When they arrived, deputies found a woman by the front door with a gunshot wound. She died at the scene.

The suspected shooter barricaded himself inside the home. The standoff ended around 4:20 a.m. when deputies shot and killed the suspected shooter, according to Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.
