ROSEVILLE, Calif. — New vending machines inside the Westfield Galleria in Roseville aren't filled with snacks to buy, but rather item to purchase for people in need this holiday season.
It's located on the first floor between Gucci, Zara and Peloton, according to Light the World Giving Machines. People can buy items such as winter coats, disaster food boxes, first aid kits, baby formula, a baby goat and so much more. The items are for First Step Communities, Placer Food Bank, Saint John's Program for Real Change and South County Services.
International charities including UNICEF, iDE and Mentors International also have items in the machines.
When people buy items, a card drops, symbolizing the gift that will be given to someone in need. See the full list of items inside the machines at the Galleria HERE.
“These vending machines offer a unique and memorable way to light the world with love by serving and caring for others both locally and globally,” said Bruce Anderson, the director of the local effort, in a statement. “For many parents, it offers an effective way to teach children about giving to good causes and the joy there is by helping others.”
People can donate at the Roseville machines until Dec. 10.
The giving machines in Roseville are one of only two locations for the machines in Northern California. The machines in Roseville will be moved to the Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto Dec. 11 and will be up through Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The nonprofits in Modesto are the American Red Cross: Heart of the Valley Chapter, Boys & Girls Clubs of Stanislaus County, Food Initiative of Greater Stanislaus and West Modesto Community Collaborative.
The machines debuted in the Sacramento area in 2022 and had more than 11,500 items purchased, according to Light the World Giving Machines.
