3 hospitalized in Sacramento due to carbon monoxide poisoning

Fire officials say a woman and two children are now in stable condition.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Three people are in critical condition due to carbon monoxide poisoning, fire officials say.

According to the Sacramento Fire Department, it happened Tuesday afternoon in the 7800 block of Center Parkway.

Officials say three people — two children and a woman — were taken to the hospital in critical condition due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The fire department says a portable generator was being used in the living room.

Fire officials say they were called to the area about two children feeling unwell. Upon arrival, they found the two children and a woman unresponsive. All three are now in stable condition, according to officials.

Fire crews say the carbon monoxide levels were "extremely high."

Nearby apartment units were evacuated as a precaution while fire officials checked carbon monoxide levels in them.
