Affordable housing for 'very low income' Sacramento seniors set to be 67 apartment units

The Donner Field Senior Apartments on 4501 9th Avenue in Sacramento will serve residents over 55 years old who make less than 60% of the median income.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Very low and extremely low income seniors in Sacramento will be eligible for affordable housing at the upcoming Donner Field Senior Apartments.

City officials approved an $8.54 million loan for the development last July. Now, they will consider issuing up to $30 million in bonds for the project on April 9.

Seniors over the age of 55 years old earning below 60% of Sacramento's median income will be eligible for the apartments, while 17 of the apartment units will be reserved for seniors at risk of homelessness. There will be 67 housing units.

The apartments along Stockton Boulevard and will consist of both one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Site amenities will include:

  • Bocce ball court & BBQ grills
  • Raised beds for gardening
  • Balcony for select apartments

Eden Housing is developing the U-shaped two and three-story building set for 4501 9th Avenue.
