'Sacramento Proud' banners hit Midtown

New ‘Sacramento Proud' signs have popped up in Midtown.

New ‘Sacramento Proud’ signs have popped up in Midtown.

The Midtown Business Association said it partnered with Sacramento Kings to hang 37 ‘New Era of Proud’ banners along J Street.

The group hopes this increases excitement for the Golden 1 Center’s October opening and reminds people when they come to check out the new arena to visit Midtown for food, bars and entertainment.

“Midtown has a lot to offer, with the different shops, bars, the food, also the arts, there’s just amazing artwork around Sacramento that people need to see,” said artist Norman Ayles.

Others around Midtown said they’re happy ‘Proud’ is the message the signs are portraying.

“At least in my friend group a lot of people are like ‘I hate Sacramento, I hate Sacramento’ I don’t know, I think it’s cool to see like, ‘hey be proud to be from here’,” said resident Sophie Cano.

The Golden 1 Center will make its debut when Paul McCartney performs on October 4 and 5, 2016.
