Downtown Sacramento gym closing after almost 40 years due to 'significant challenges'

Capital Athletic Club management said on social media the gym is closing after challenges over the last few years.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Capital Athletic Club is closing its doors in downtown Sacramento after management released a statement citing "significant challenges" over the past few years.

Management informed club members in a social media post Saturday and said they will be permanently closing Dec. 31. The club has been open as a gym for the last 38 years.

"Over these years, the sense of community between our members and staff has become more like an extended family and you will be dearly missed. You have all has a positive impact on our lives and we hope that the same can be said for us," management officials said.
