SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The man accused of killing a six-year-old girl is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Jadianna Larsen's body was found in Glenn County last week after her mother's boyfriend, Juan Rivera, reported her missing. He is now charged with her murder. His timeline of events quickly fell apart after the body was identified as Jadianna.

The sheriff's department said detectives have evidence to support the charge of murder against Rivera. He was Jadianna's caretaker. Rivera, 25, of Sacramento, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail late Friday night. He is currently being held without the possibility of bail.

Sheriff department Sgt. Lisa Bowman said, "This mother is not being looked at as a suspect in this case."

Bowman said Jadianna's mother had a legitimate reason not to be home at the time of the incident, but did not go into specifics. Bowman said late last week the mother is cooperating with investigators.
