Tracy police rescue kidnapping victim held hostage at gunpoint

Both accused kidnappers are Bay Area residents.

TRACY, Calif. — Police officers in Tracy rescued a kidnapping victim who they say was being held hostage at gunpoint Friday evening.

According to the Tracy Police Department, their officers learned that a kidnapping victim was being held hostage inside a home in the 1500 block of Lankershire Drive around 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Officers surrounded the home and deployed a drone to get video of the situation. The drone video allegedly captured one of the accused kidnappers, Gerado Tornero-Rosales, 26 of Livermore, leaving the back of the home. Officers immediately arrested him.

The second accused kidnapper, Angel Lopez-Gutierrez, 24 of Oakland, surrendered to officers at the front door of the home.

The kidnapping victim was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Officers booked Tornero-Rosales into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment, criminal threats and possession of methamphetamine. 

Officers booked Lopez-Gutierrez into jail on suspicion of rape by force/ fear, kidnapping, false imprisonment and criminal threats.
