A 2-month-old child had major injuries in the crash as well.

TRACY, Calif. — A crash involving a wrong-way driver along Interstate 580 left two people dead and three others in the hospital early Sunday morning, police said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2 a.m. when a 2007 Honda Accord was heading the wrong way on I-580 and crashed head-on into a 2023 Kia Telluride just west of Corral Hollow Road in Tracy.

Both vehicles overturned with the driver of the Honda, an 18-year-old man out of Antioch, being thrown into the center median. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old woman out of Fort Bragg, was taken to hospital where she ultimately died from her injuries.

A 35-year-old man and a 2-month-old girl had major injuries and a 4-year-old boy had minor injuries. All three were from Fort Bragg and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

It's not clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
