Man, woman arrested for shooting in South Sacramento

Two people were arrested for a shooting in South Sacramento thanks to help from the ShotSpotter program.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies received ShotSpotter notifications Thursday night, just after 6 p.m. Within minutes the department received phone calls reporting a shooting near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with neighbors and collected evidence, but found no victims.

A little more than 2 hours later, a detectives found a car matching the description from the earlier shooting. The car was pulled over and a search revealed a loaded 12 gauge, pump-action shotgun and a semi-automatic 9mm handgun. Neither of the guns belonged to the two people inside the vehicle.

Derick L. Paradise, 46, and Meay P. Saechao, 40, were charged with illegal firearm possession and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner.
