'Poor Things' actor Willem Dafoe honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame star

The four-time Academy Award nominee received his star on Monday with some big stars by his side.

WASHINGTON — Actor Willem Dafoe opened the new year with another achievement: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 68-year-old actor received his star on Monday with some big name celebrities by his side. Patricia Arquette, Pedro Pascal, Mark Ruffalo and Guillermo Del Toro, among others, all attended the unveiling ceremony in Hollywood, California.

Dafoe, known for films like "The Lighthouse," "Spider-Man" and "Poor Things," said he hopes his art makes the world a better place.

“It's wonderful to be part of this community of artists and entertainers, people that, by sharing their experience, imagining other perspectives, telling stories and musing on what is, was and most importantly could be, they make us feel closer to each other and connect us, creating an important human dialogue, particularly needed in these detached, technology-driven and divisive times,” Dafoe said. " So, I'm glad to be with people like this, and we're making something, and hopefully we're making this a better world somehow.”

The actor has made over 100 films in his decades-long career and is known the boldness and versatility of his roles. Dafoe and his wife, director Giada Colagrande, have also collaborated together on four films.

“You cannot compare his career to anyone's, truthfully," Pascal said about the 68-year-old actor. "So, it is our fortune to have him. And I personally am forever grateful.”

Gleaming with joy, the "Poor Things" actor posed for photos with his newly-cemented star.

"Willem always delivers. He always elevates material. He has over 120 nominations and accolades which, I promise you, is not his agenda, but it's the result of his dogged commitment to acting," Arquette said at the ceremony. "He leaves no stone unturned. Some people act to gain success—Willem happens to be successful because he loves to act.”

The four-time Academy Award nominee is the 2,768th person to receive the honor, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
